Loopy Looper Edge – Metro Hobbies

The HC85 series is a hybrid train that was announced in 2019 as a replacement for the "Hida" and "Nanki" express trains operated by the Kiha 85 series, and has begun test runs. The series employs a hybrid system that runs by driving the motor with electricity generated by the engine and stored in the storage battery, reducing the environmental impact. Mass-produced cars will be released in 2022, and will begin commercial operation as the "Hida" express train in July 2022 and the "Nanki" express train in July 2023. The series will be flexibly configured according to operation, from a minimum of two cars to a maximum of 10 cars, just like the Kiha 85 series, which ended regular service on the "Hida" in March 2023 and the "Nanki" in June 2023.
